Corradino is the coordinating consultant to the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) on the Detroit Intermodal Freight Terminal Project
(DIFT). The project's goal is to strengthen the economic and physical security of Michigan by improving freight transportation at a consolidated terminal in
Southwest Detroit. The project involves all four Class I railroads operating in Michigan-CSX, Norfolk Southern, Canadian National, and Canadian
Pacific-in the $650 million improvement program. Up to 50 percent of the cost to the rail improvements will likely be covered by the railroads, and the rest by government.
The project will g~nerate approximately 4,500 jobs statewide, including 2,360 Jobs In the Detroit area. About 3,100 person years of employment will be generated, with construction peaking in 2014 at 620 jobs.
