HOLLYWOOD BOULEVARD ROADWAY IMPROVEMENTS, FLORIDA

In September 2009, Corradino completed drainage and roadway improvements on Hollywood Boulevard just west of I-95 in Broward County, Florida, a distance of 1.2 miles. The $6 million project included milling and resurfacing, drainage improvements, curb, gutter and sidewalk improvements, landscaping, and decorative street lighting. To minimize the impact of construction on the community, Corradino placed a Public Information Officer (PIO) in the project office to handle public inquiries.
The PIO was heavily involved in community outreach throughout the duration of the project, providing informational pieces on the various stages of construction, and holding frequent community meetings for local residents and motorists to provide up-to-date project information and construction timelines.

Project Highlights Included:
  • Milling and resurfacing over the entire roadway
  • Improvements to drainage systems with construction of concrete curbs and gutters
  • Upgrades to crosswalks and sidewalk ramps to satisfy ADA requirements
  • Installation of a signal mast arm for pedestrian crossing at Calle Grande and Video Detection equipment at existing traffic signals
  • Improvements to bus stops and turnout bays, and landscaping along the roadway (including preservation of existing Royal Palms)
  • Installation of decorative lighting fixtures and street signage
