Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport Terminal Expansion

Project Description

The Corradino Group is currently providing program management services for Broward County Aviation Department’s Airport Expansion Program, which includes the Terminal 4 Gate Replacement Project. It is one of the largest projects that Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) has undergone. Corradino is managing the Design, Construction, and Controls & Budgeting elements of this program. The Terminal 4 project consists of construction of a new concourse with 14 international gates, demolition of the existing Concourse H, demolition and expansion of the entire aircraft parking apron for the terminal, and installation of a new hydrant fueling system,. The concourse is being constructed under two separate contracts and involves two separate contract delivery methods (Construction Management at Risk and traditional Design-Bid-Build).

Due to the fact aircraft have to be operational during construction, coupled with a dramatic and unanticipated increase in airline traffic, the project requires an extremely complex phasing plan, operational flexibility plus close coordination of construction work to accommodate the multiple contractors working in close proximity to each other and to operational aircraft.
